Erna Honeyman

I have always loved to create - couple of my favorite childhood memories were baking bread to shape buns or fruit rings with my Mother, to making paper clothes for paper dolls! It’s no accident that my work has evolved to use materials that I find around me to help create my sculptures. Found objects are often the spark that inspires me. Fabric, wire, wood, metal and especially natural fibres and materials - combining these materials with modern methods that use innovative materials allows me to translate an inspiration into an abstract or vision. Line, texture and color are strong influences in my recent work. I like the strong elegant lines that I’m able to achieve with natural materials available on the market. A textile hardener is, for now, my medium of choice.
